Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Safety Coordinator includes but is not limited to: 

 

  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of facility specific procedures and programs
  • Consistent attendance and participation in departmental pre-shift meetings / toolbox talks
  • Ensure all necessary testing, recordkeeping, and reporting is completed per OSHA requirements
  • Conduct safety visits, audits and observations throughout the plant site
  • Maintain and coordinate the PPE program
  • Develop, organize, and provide safety training
  • Maintain the Divisions' BMS system
  • Attend and participate in company safety meetings  
  • Compile, review and report injury/illness statistics
  • Implementation and management of facility’s radiation program
  • Develop, coordinate, and conduct division safety activities and initiatives in alignment with Nucor’s goal to become the world's safest steel company
  • Communicate key safety information and KPI’s to the leadership team

This position must positively and effectively interact with the entire team to promote a culture of safety and achieve an injury-free workplace.  Must be willing to work required hours and to be on-call in emergency situations. 

 Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
