Basic Job Functions:
The role of the Safety Coordinator includes but is not limited to:
- Assist with the development, maintenance, and implementation of facility specific procedures and programs
- Consistent attendance and participation in departmental pre-shift meetings / toolbox talks
- Ensure all necessary testing, recordkeeping, and reporting is completed per OSHA requirements
- Conduct safety visits, audits and observations throughout the plant site
- Maintain and coordinate the PPE program
- Develop, organize, and provide safety training
- Maintain the Divisions' BMS system
- Attend and participate in company safety meetings
- Compile, review and report injury/illness statistics
- Implementation and management of facility’s radiation program
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct division safety activities and initiatives in alignment with Nucor’s goal to become the world's safest steel company
- Communicate key safety information and KPI’s to the leadership team
This position must positively and effectively interact with the entire team to promote a culture of safety and achieve an injury-free workplace. Must be willing to work required hours and to be on-call in emergency situations.
