Basic Job Functions:
The Nucor Steel Florida (NSFL) Technical Academy is a training program designed to teach maintenance fundamentals and to train a person with a high school diploma to the level of an entry level maintenance technician or operator within a two-year training period. The training program is a compilation of education, culture, and On-the-Job Training. This training provides the necessary classroom instruction and includes structured hands-on training to ensure the person is prepared to enter the workforce as a maintenance technician or operator. Responsibilities will include hands-on assignments working with experienced Nucor Maintenance Team Members.
*Note: This Technical Academy is located and administered at Nucor Steel Florida, Inc. in Frostproof, Florida in partnership with South Florida State College (SFSC) located in Avon Park, Florida. College classes will be a combination of online and in-person at SFSC. OJT will be conducted onsite at NSFL.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Training Program Requirements:
1. Current high school transcript (2.75 GPA preferred). Including the first semester of your senior year in High School.
2. ACT, SAT, or Accuplacer scores: upload to application packet if available and if not available, candidate must provide before interview.
3. One-page essay explaining how your work history, activities, or other interests make you a good candidate for this training program. Include your career or educational goals.
4. Willingness Questionnaire (the questions are listed here after you click "Apply Now.")
5. Interested candidates must also complete a separate application to South Florida State College.
