Purpose:

To manage and ensure compliance with all sales and use tax regulations. This role will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns, maintaining accurate records, and supporting audits while partnering with internal teams to ensure proper tax treatment across transactions.

Basic Job Functions:

  • Must adhere to Nucor’s safety programs and standards.
  • Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor’s vision and values.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns
  • Maintain accurate tax records and ensure compliance with all state and local tax regulations
  • Review invoices and transactions to ensure proper tax application
  • Reconcile tax accounts and resolve discrepancies
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and update processes accordingly
  • Assist with audits, including gathering documentation and responding to inquiries
  • Support exemption certificate management and validation
  • Partner with accounting, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure compliance
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and efficiencies
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in sales and use tax or indirect tax
  • Strong knowledge of state and local tax regulations
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and tax software preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferences:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
  • Familiarity with multi-state tax filings
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
