Purpose:
Assist the Accounting/Administration Department in performing daily and monthly accounting functions and responsibilities. This would include visits to branch sites (for physical inventories, etc.) and research and analysis of accounts.
Basic Job Functions:
- Must adhere to Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s safety programs and standards
- Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication’s vision and values
- Join the accounting team at month-end closings to review the contract accrual/deferral function and propose adjustment entries as needed
- Work with Accounts Payable, Contracts Department and the Branches in reviewing/approving the release of payment on vendor invoices. Includes soliciting missing documentation to ensure compliance with general contractor requirements and internal controls
- Prepare general ledger entries (including recurring and intercompany) and maintain records and files
- Reconcile accounts and prepare supporting schedules
- Perform check-signer duties
- Retail sales audit report review (SOX control)
- Handle the KPI (Key Performance Indicators) reporting function
- Update and maintain Fixed Asset System (FAS) as well as prepare and submit associated reports
- Maintain the SOX controls ensuring all the controls are in place and up to date
- Administer SOX control testing
- Conduct or assist with physical inventories both onsite and remote
- File Personal Property Tax returns, as required by state and local agencies
- Handle the Unclaimed Property process in accordance with guidelines put forth by UPCR and our corporate parent
- Submit monthly / quarterly / annual schedules and serves as point person for audits
- Answer accounting questions and assist with audits and special projects as needed
- Perform other accounting-related tasks as assigned by management

Minimum Requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
- Bachelor’s degree in Business / Accounting or equivalent documented work experience with Associate’s degree in Business / Accounting
- Ability and willingness to work safely and promote a safety culture as priority number 1
Preferences:
- Experience in the construction and/or manufacturing industry
- Muiltistate Sales & Use Tax knowledge

- Using hands to operate objects, tools, computers and other electronic equipment
- Lifting/handling computers and related equipment (typically not more than 25 pounds).
- Vision abilities including close vision and adjusting focus
