Basic Job Functions:
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for leading safety and environmental compliance at the Division. An Environmental Engineer may be assigned any combination of the duties listed below as their primary responsibilities depending upon skills and Division needs.
Essential position responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain environmental compliance for all environmental regulations
- Implementation and management of environmental programs (air, water, waste, etc.) including permitting and reporting
- Lead environmental compliance for construction projects
- Oversee contractors and onsite customers conducting environmental related projects
- Education and training of the team
- Engaging with the plant wide team for solutions to problems and promoting continual improvement
- Participating in community outreach initiatives
- Build relationships with regulators
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- H.S. Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience or 4-year degree in engineering, environmental science, or another related field
- Understanding and knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, operations, and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of environmental compliance related experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- High level of integrity
- Experience interfacing with local regulatory agencies, community leaders, and legislators
- Experience with ISO14001 or other related management system
- Experience with construction and project management
