Basic Job Functions:

Solicits bids from vendors and negotiates prices and purchase details, coordinating options and additional specifications between requesters and vendors. Reviews quotations and recommends a supplier for purchase - within established guidelines and authority - based on price, quality, service, terms, and other considerations. Obtain information regarding new or improved products and services and communicates such information between vendors and CSI departments. Arrange meetings between vendors and CSI personnel when necessary. Coordinates with other teams to develop or revise standard specifications for materials and items commonly used by NCSI. Provides information on discrepancies and specification changes to the warehouse and/or end user. The ideal candidate is effective in oral and written communication and is open and interested in learning new things to complete tasks outside their usual areas of responsibility.

Performs all other duties as needed, when needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

• AS/AA degree from a 2-year college or;
• 6 months of experience in a steel manufacturing company

Preferred Qualifications:

• Four (4) year college degree in a business/technical related discipline, or equivalent related experience, and a minimum of three (3) years of responsible purchasing experience, including effective dealings with outside vendors.
