Shipping Crane Operator 1

Basic Job Functions:

The role of a crane operator is to safely move materials while coordinating with the shipping team. These functions are associated with, but not limited to, shipping produced materials on rail cars and trucks, alleviating the mill of finished goods, and keeping work stations clean and safe.  Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.  This also include effectively anticipating and meeting customer needs and the ability to adjust approach based on the situation. 
• Attention to Detail:  Thorough in accomplishing task, no matter how small they may be, and taking care to make sure that expectations are met. 
• Organizing, Planning, & Prioritizing Work:  Developing specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual work and/or the work of the team.
• Initiative:  Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges.
• Dependability:  Being reliable, responsible, and committed to fulfilling obligations.
• Operations & Control:  Controlling operations of equipment and/or systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior Shipping experience
• Crane Operator experience
