Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Jackson:  This position is responsible for providing excellent customer service and a wide range of payroll support to our team members, while maintaining confidentiality and integrity of the payroll data. The role of the Payroll Coordinator I includes but is not limited to weekly processing of all payroll activities; preparation, filing, and reconciliation of quarterly/annual federal and state tax returns; month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing; preparing W2s; preparation and submission of weekly and monthly reports to accounting.

The Payroll Coordinator I will also assist with the administration of various company sponsored programs/projects (service awards, scholarships, educational reimbursement, etc.) as well as maintaining records and document retention. This position requires a high level of integrity, ethical character, and honesty in all actions.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2-Year Business Degree.
  • 3 + years in payroll processing or accounting experience.
  • 3 + years of customer service experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Due to the sensitivity and confidentiality required of the position, candidates cannot be related to, or be in a relationship with, anyone currently working for Nucor Steel Jackson.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4-year Business Degree, or related field
  • Payroll tax and financial reporting experience
  • SAP payroll, Success Factors, and other HR related systems experience
