Basic Job Functions:
Vulcraft South Carolina is seeking applicants for the position of Shop Mechanic in the Sales Service Department. The successful candidate must be committed to the pursuit of excellence in safety, quality, costs, and overall profitability of the division. This position is an hourly ROA bonus position. The role of truck shop mechanic is to SAFELY perform routine and non-routine maintenance on company owned trucks, trailers, material handling equipment and auxiliary yard equipment as required. Perform field repairs to equipment during all hours and weather conditions as required. Maintain equipment compliance with FMCSA and D.O.T. regulations. Actively participate in the company’s safety program. Perform any other duties as assigned or as necessary. Must possess a Class A CDL or have the ability and willingness to obtain one within a specified time frame.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 yrs. in automotive mechanical experience
- Experience in maintenance and repair of commercial motor vehicles. Is familiar with FMCSA and DOT regulations.
- Diagnosis and repair of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and A/C.
- Electronic engine controls and computer-based diagnosis.
- Willing to work holidays, weekends and overtime at little to no advanced notice.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of Fleet Maintenance Programs.
- Diesel mechanic certification
- Class A driver’s license
- Experience in welding, aluminum is a plus.
- Previous experience in forklift repair and operations.
