Structural Engineering Supervisor

Basic Job Functions:

The following responsibilities reflect the dynamic and integral role of the Design Engineering Supervisor in shaping the success and safety culture at Nucor. Your duties will include, but aren’t limited to:

• Lead the Design Team: Oversee daily activities, ensuring design projects are completed on time with high quality.
• Recruitment and Hiring: Coordinate with HR to execute recruitment strategies, conduct interviews, and make hiring decisions that contribute to the team.
• Team Development and Mentoring: Engage in the professional growth of team members through training, mentoring, and thorough performance evaluations. 
• Policy and Procedure Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive design policies, procedures, and practices that uphold our commitment to embody and promote quality and safety.
• Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to forecast and plan for the Design Group’s future, ensuring readiness and adaptability to meet evolving market demands.
• Benchmarking and Improvement: Engage with other divisions within Nucor to benchmark and adopt best practices, enhancing operational results and customer satisfaction.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET Accredited school.
• 2 years of leadership experience leading a team of multiple individuals.
• P.E. and/or S.E. Registration or ability to obtain such within one year of accepting this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years of metal building industry experience.
