NSD Ladle Crane Operator

Basic Job Functions:

The basic functions of Ladle Crane Operator are as follows:

1) Transport Steel Ladles in the Meltshop with 170 tons of liquid metal.

2) Communicate with EAFs, LMFs, and Casters to coordinate the flow of the Meltshop.

3) Assist Refractory staging ladles during daily operations.

4) Assist Maintenance during repairs, PMs, down days, and outages. Able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and able to assist in other areas of the department (Down Days, Outage, down time, etc.). Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of experience operating overhead cab or hot metal ladle cranes in an industrial or steelmaking environment.
• Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights 90’
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 steel production environment.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job; able to pass the eye examination for vision and depth perception.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience handling molten metal or working in a melt shop.
