Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Decatur is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Hot Mill Mechanical Bearing Technician. Initial position will consist of day shift, but is not limited to. Technician will be responsible for the day to day maintenance and preventive Maintenance of the Chocks and Bearings associated with the Chock Maintenance program. Execution of reliability based maintenance programs to ensure optimum performance of bearings and chock equipment. Develop and implement projects to improve chock wear and to improve bearing life. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Thorough understanding of mechanical principles
- Precision Measuring skills
- Fundamental understanding of bearings and installation procedures of bearings.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Two year technical degree and/or equivalent experience in mechanical maintenance or Machine shop.
2. Understanding importance of quality affect from plant maintenance activities.
3. Large bore bearing experience.
