Basic Job Functions:

This position reports to the Safety Director.  The role of the Safety Coordinator includes providing leadership and support to the Safety & Health functions across the Division and Safety Region. The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Growing long term, sustainable relationships to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems.  Develop, communicate, and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor's Challenge of "Becoming the World's Safest Steel Company."  Interpret and practically apply regulatory and consensus standards (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.) Build and facilitate effective Safety & Health processes, management systems, and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention. Conduct safety visits, audits, and observations.  Occasional travel required.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. 3 years Safety-related experience within manufacturing industry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. General knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations
  2. OSHA VPP experience
