Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel South Carolina (Darlington) is seeking a Metallurgist interested in taking on a technical role based upon the needs of the plant and the candidate’s experience. Job functions could range from process/product metallurgy, product/process improvements, problem-solving projects throughout the facility, and customer complaints and claims resolution. Other functions may include grade development for specialized applications, providing training to teammates, metallurgical assistance to technical service representatives and customers, and continuous improvement of the quality management system. This position will require occasional overnight travel. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa).

Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree in Metallurgy, Material Science, or a related engineering or scientific discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous leadership experience.
- Experience in any production steelmaking process or technical sales areas, including rolling and melting/refining/casting of bar products, wire rod product experience, special bar quality or automotive quality experience, non-destructive testing (eddy or ultrasonic) of round bar.
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
