Basic Job Functions:

Metallurgical Lab Technician is an entry level laboratory technician position responsible for the proper identification, preparation, and evaluation of intermediate and finished product to applicable industry standards. The position includes, but is not limited to, the use of microscopes, saws, measurement devices, various test equipment, and extensive use of computer applications and programs. They will be performing metallographic examination of finished product. The qualified candidate is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment and must be willing to work a flexible schedule that can include a rotating shift schedule as well as weekends. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Two-year technical degree or higher.
  2. Laboratory experience.
  3. Previous experience in a steel or manufacturing related industry.
  4. Demonstrated ability to go the extra mile; whether it is hours worked or responsibilities accepted, with the proper attitude and dependability.
