Basic Job Functions:
BASIC FUNCTIONS:
- Ordering alloys, refractory, lime, strapping, etc., whatever is required for all departments.
- Assist in the Contractor Approval Process including annual insurance renewals and evaluation.
- Assist in reviewing supplier quotes to make sure terms and conditions are in-line with Nucor terms.
- Be involved in reviewing contracts and following them through the approval process.
- Risk mitigation and safe-guarding Nucor assets are a vital part of this role.
- Support all operating and administrative areas of the company through fulfillment of procurement needs in a timely and cost-effective manner by:
- Evaluating vendor's product and/or service capabilities
-Negotiating prices and terms with vendors
- Work with all departments to facilitate the ordering process and solve potential issues
- Issuing purchase orders and maintaining purchasing policies and procedures
- Collaborate with other Nucor entities as needed
- Assist in the Warehouse Repair Process. Responsible for Requisitions and purchase orders for Warehouse Repairs.
- Fill in for other warehouse teammates that may need to be out for any reason. Will need to be able to work the warehouse counter, receiving area, and other areas that are the warehouse's responsibility.
- Participate in other things around the mill, such as safety teams, internal audits, wellness teams, etc.
- Be able to operate a forklift to Nucor standards.
- Assist in the physical inventory process, run reports, count, and reconcile variances.
- Work to maintain and improve all areas of the warehouse by keeping the areas safe, neat, and the inventory clean and accurate.
- The qualified candidate must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4-year College Degree, preferably Business or Supply Chain, or equivalent years of service in a related position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Purchasing and Negotiations Experience.
