Basic Job Functions:

The role of Accountant will require you to demonstrate integrity, ownership, positive outlook, and ability to work in a team environment. This position will be responsible for the execution of day-to-day and period-end financial responsibilities, and long-term projects assigned by supervisor and/or management. The qualified candidate must have the ability to work in a dynamic team environment with tight deadlines that may require working extended hours and/or working on holidays. It may require occasional travel to other Nucor locations.

 

General Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with GAAP accounting and financial reporting
  • Project and Fixed Assets Accounting
  • Cost accounting & cost analysis
  • Constant focus on process improvement and innovative solutions to challenges
  • Cross training within finance department
  • Collaboration across division and corporation
  • Cooperating with and supporting production teammates
  • Tax schedules preparation/filing

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  2. BA in Accounting or Finance

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. MBA, MAcc or CPA
  2. Previous experience in steelmaking or manufacturing accounting
  3. Previous experience with Oracle ERP
