Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Business Technology (NBT) is building a new Solution Engineering team dedicated to delivering technology solutions for Nucor's Bar and Engineered Bar Mill Group. We are seeking a Senior Solution Engineer to help design, build, and scale applications that create measurable business value and improve how Nucor serves its customers.
This team will initially focus on digital ordering and commercial capabilities but will evolve to address the Group's highest-value business opportunities. As the senior technical contributor, you will solve complex business challenges, establish engineering standards, and serve as the technical partner to the Team Lead. You will work closely with business stakeholders to transform operational needs into secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions across application development, enterprise integrations, cloud infrastructure, and data platforms.
This is a full-time position based in Dallas, TX.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor Business Technology (NBT) will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Design, develop, and deliver complex software solutions from concept through production.
- Lead integration efforts between team applications and Nucor enterprise systems.
- Establish engineering best practices across application development, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and data.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed and software quality.
- Maintain high standards for architecture, testing, code quality, and documentation.
- Serve as a technical advisor and backup to the Team Lead.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical solutions.
- Conduct code reviews, mentor engineers, and support team growth through hiring and onboarding.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security, compliance, and data protection standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ years of professional full-stack software development experience, including meaningful time spent on enterprise system integration.
- Hands-on experience integrating applications against enterprise systems, such as ERP platforms, middleware, or API-based integration layers.
- Experience with prompt engineering, API-based LLM integration patterns, and AI orchestration concepts, applied to real engineering work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building customer-facing products and measuring business outcomes.
- Experience integrating with Oracle EBS or similar ERP platforms.
- Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud technologies.
- Experience developing applications using React and TypeScript.
- Experience with enterprise design systems and component libraries.
- Experience with data engineering, authentication frameworks, and AI/agent-based solutions.
- Experience modernizing legacy platforms.
- Manufacturing, industrial, or B2B commerce experience is a plus.
