Senior BI/Data Architect

Basic Job Functions:

The Group Technology Services (GTS) of the Vulcraft/Verco Group (VVG) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Data Engineer with solid experience in the Azure Cloud environment.

As a GTS Senior Data Engineer, you will be a technical leader on our data integration and business intelligence team. 

This position will be responsible for providing world-class data integration solutions to support our business. 

• Define and model the data integration design across the Vulcraft/Verco group.
• Ensure that industry-accepted data design principles and standards are established and followed to meet technical and business goals.
• Maintain secure, high quality, and reliable data and data delivery.
• Work closely with teams to collect and translate information and requirements for scalable, data-centric solutions. Leading this effort requires coordination and integration with various project teams across Nucor.
• Provide assistance and thought leadership toward defining our VVG data management and governance strategy.

This is a contract-to-hire position with the VVG GTS team. The successful candidate may be based in any VVG location with the agreement of that division (this is not a remote position).  A willingness to travel periodically and domestically is required to satisfy team, project, or training demands.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in designing, building, and implementing modern data integration and data warehouse solutions
• Experience and expertise in designing data solutions in Microsoft Azure
• Demonstrable expertise with SQL queries and Notebooks with DataFrames in PySpark
• Extensive hands-on experience implementing dependable ETL/ADF solutions that assure data integrity and accuracy
• Hands-on experience in Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and/or Data Lakehouses at scale
• Knowledge of popular BI tools such as Power BI and self-service BI environments

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related discipline.  An equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
• Experience leading a technical team
• Experience with Azure Fabric and Databricks
• Experience configuring Power BI and data authentication 
• Experience with metadata-driven integration and data pipeline architecture
• Experience ingesting from multiple databases including SAP
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform, etc.)
• Experience with creating CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with Power BI reporting
• Exposure to data governance and master data management practices
