Basic Job Functions:

  • Interpreting Design Specifications: Drafters begin by reviewing design specifications, sketches, or instructions provided by engineers, understand the project requirements thoroughly.
  • Creating Technical Drawings: Using computer-aided design (CAD) software or traditional drafting tools, create accurate and detailed technical drawings. drawings can include floor plans, elevation views, cross-sections, and assembly diagrams.
  • ensure that all dimensions, measurements, and notations on the drawings are precise and accurate.  must follow industry-specific standards and conventions.
  • collaborate closely with engineers, and other professionals to incorporate design changes, resolve issues, and ensure that the drawings align with project goals.
  • Revision and Updates: As a project progresses, drafter may need to revise and update drawings to reflect changes, improvements, or new information.
  • Documentation: Maintaining organized records of all drawings and revisions is essential. This documentation helps track project development and ensures that historical data is accessible.
  • Quality Control: Drafter are responsible for checking their work for errors and inconsistencies.
  • Meeting Deadlines: Drafters often work under tight deadlines, especially in industries like construction and manufacturing.
  • Keeping up with advancements in CAD software and industry-specific trends is important for drafters to remain effective and competitive in their field.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: at least 2 years of drafting courses.
  • Computer Skills: CAD package including inventor, 3D CAD.
  • Work Schedule: a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of Drafting fundamentals.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
