Operations Manager

Basic Job Functions:

The Operations Manager is a key member of the NSLA Leadership Team, responsible for executing division-level strategic initiatives while leading the operations team. This role requires a strong focus on team leadership, safety, operational discipline, and performance excellence.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial operations setting, with a demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive results, and foster a culture of safety and performance.
• Communication – Effectively expresses ideas or tasks to an individual or group. Demonstrates practical listening skills through receiving feedback, following instructions, and showing a genuine interest in others.
• Teamwork – Working as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve a common goal. Ability to distinguish and align personal needs with the needs of the team and Nucor.
• Leadership Presence and Courage – Willingness and confidence to have immediate and direct conversations on critical alignment issues such as teamwork, building relationships, initiating and supporting change, and production process issues that arise. This includes the willingness to face adversity and conflict head-on.
• Initiative – Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges.
• Problem Solving – Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and make decisions quickly and effectively to implement solutions. Contributes to the team by providing insight and ideas.
• Business Acumen – Continually looks for ways to reduce costs and/or improve efficiencies. Shows an interest in the business and focuses on doing whatever they can to improve profitability. Knows how their job affects the success of the division. Ability to think strategically and formulate plans to execute enterprise and division initiatives.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with multiple aspects of operations such as production, shipping, and port operations. 
• Demonstrated success leading safety or continuous improvement initiatives.
