Basic Job Functions:

The Environmental Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Environmental Supervisor and will be responsible for preventive, routine, and breakdown maintenance on all equipment related to the safe production of DRI. This position will also be responsible for coordinating and completing multiple tasks associated with the operation and production of DRI and developing and maintaining communication across multiple groups of plant personnel and contractors.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on work experience in industrial mechanical maintenance  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industrial maintenance of water and baghouse systems.  

  • Experience in stick, MIG, and TIG welding techniques. 

  • Experience in construction, commissioning, and start-up of industrial equipment.  

  • Ability to communicate effectively between maintenance and production groups regarding plant and equipment issues.  

  • Demonstrated computer skill set including experience with MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD Technical degree or technical certification.
