Basic Job Functions:
The Material Handling Manager will serve as a key member of the NSLA leadership team, responsible for overseeing the flow of raw materials and finished product through the site. This role leads all inbound and outbound shipping activity, manages inventory control processes, and ensures safe and efficient operation of dock, storage, and material logistics functions.
Basic Job Functions:
- Lead all material handling operations, including receiving, storage, inventory management, shipping, and port operations.
- Provide leadership and development for a team of material handling teammates and supervisors to build a high-performing, safety-focused department
- Oversee documentation, material movement tracking, and system accuracy to ensure alignment with operational and quality requirements.
- Partner with Production, Maintenance, and Business Support teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials to support plant operations.
- Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations across all material movement and handling processes.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in inventory control, staging, logistics, and team performance.
- Support NSLA, RMG, and Nucor-wide initiatives focused on teammate development, performance, and accountability.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience in material handling, shipping/receiving, logistics, or port operations.
- Strong understanding of inventory control systems and material tracking processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, drive results, and maintain a safety-first mindset.
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading dock, port, or yard operations in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Prior involvement in lean logistics or continuous improvement programs
- Must have manager/general manager recommendation
- Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
