Environmental Manager

Basic Job Functions:

The Environmental Manager serves as a key member of the NSLA Leadership Team and is responsible for overseeing all environmental compliance efforts, driving sustainability initiatives, and ensuring our environmental strategy aligns with Nucor’s core values and regulatory expectations.

Basic Job Functions:

• Lead all environmental programs across the division, including regulatory compliance, reporting, and permitting for air, water, and waste.
• Partner with division leadership and teammates to strengthen environmental ownership at all levels of the organization.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• Champion sustainability efforts and actively support Nucor’s long-term environmental and community goals.
• Support training, education, and awareness related to environmental policies, best practices, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with external agencies and internal stakeholders to maintain transparency and readiness for audits and inspections.
• Ensure alignment with NSLA, RMG, and Nucor environmental strategies while supporting the safety and performance goals of the division.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Four-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, including air permitting, water quality, or waste management.
• Proven knowledge of environmental regulations including Title V, NPDES, and hazardous waste standards.
• Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting is preferred.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience leading or supporting ISO 14001 or similar Environmental Management Systems
• Demonstrated success managing agency relationships and navigating audits or inspections
• Strong team engagement and communication skills at all levels of the organization
