Basic Job Functions:
Design, develop, and maintain advanced process control strategies and systems and develop technical project documentation. Developing, engineering, and implementing quality improvement processes and projects related to Nucor’s Emerson DeltaV Distributed Control System (DCS) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and achieve operational integration. Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Responsible for technical analysis of Direct Reduction Process and providing technical support for activities that drive product cost, quality, and process improvements. Inspect completed installations and observe operations to ensure conformance to design and equipment specifications and compliance with operational, safety, or environmental standards. Identify areas where procedures can be improved and enacting appropriate changes to improve Plant efficiency and operation. Design and implement DCS software modifications to improve operations. Designing, modifying, and implementing innovative software programming for DeltaV DCS. Demonstrating excellence in defining requirements, design, programming, testing and problem-solving skills. Developing Operator Interface Graphics, Equipment Modules, Sequential Function Charts and Dynamo Objects for DeltaV Operator Interface including study of specifications, requirement gathering, designing, integration, testing, documentation and support. Ensure software design and solutions satisfy customer process requirements. Provide engineering and technical support for activities which drive improvements of product cost, quality, and process performance. Define end-use characteristics on hardware and software to ensure customer product and processing needs are met. Solve quality and operational problems either alone or as part of a team; and Provide technical and operational training of control systems to Plant personnel.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Electronics Engineering or directly related Engineering degree and five (5) years of experience developing and implementing automation equipment control strategies, equipment reliability programs as well as preventive and corrective maintenance for plant automation. Experience must include Programming, troubleshooting and batch implementation of DeltaV Distributed Control System equipment; Configuration of custom logics and commissioning of Fieldbus devices in plant utilizing HYL-ZR direct reduced iron (DRI) plant process equipment and control methodology; Developing Operator Interface Graphics, Equipment Modules, Sequential Function Charts and Dynamo Objects for DeltaV Operator Interface; Process communication protocols (Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, DP, Modbus transmission control protocol/internet protocol); and Configure process automation systems (PAS) and safety instrumented systems (SIS) projects including designing, engineering, and conducting factory acceptance tests.
