Basic Job Functions:

Assist Nucor Buildings Group SC Sales Team and our Builders by accurately and efficiently estimating building system prices based on quote proposal documents, company policies and standards. Evaluate and maintain material costs, erection concerns, and fabrication procedures as they relate to the total in-place cost of the structure.  Estimator basic functions include but are not limited to:

  •   Coordinate daily quote activities as well as recommend economical product solutions to accommodate various sales requests.
  •   Manage the schedule demands as set forth by the customers, sales team, and other members of the estimating department to ensure all deadlines are met.
  •   Supply well qualified and accurate quote proposals through the effective application of custom-developed estimating software.
  •   Generating accurate take-offs for building materials that are not manufactured by NBG.
  •   Determine the extent of design-build freedom and value engineering opportunities to establish all areas of the project that may be modified and/or explored.
  •   Fielding phone calls from District Sales Managers, from Builders, and attend customer meetings regarding project scope, qualifications, and estimates to offer value adding solutions.
  •   Utilizing computer tools, pricing tables, and overall knowledge of products and their applications
  •   Assisting, proactively and as assigned, in the development of additional tools, standards, etc., which will help to increase individual and overall department productivity and accuracy.
  • Assisting in the checking of other team member’s work to ensure accuracy of all estimates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Experience in steel construction and/or related industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
  • Pre-engineered metal buildings experience.
