Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Hertford is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Melt Shop Technical Supervisor. The role of the Melt Shop Technical Supervisor includes, but is not limited to:
- Establishing a culture of safety awareness, team development, quality production, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinating safety, quality, and process improvements throughout the Melt Shop and Caster.
- Managing metallurgical engineering functions in the Melt Shop and Caster, including coaching, mentoring, and developing the Melt Shop metallurgical and process team.
- Leading the Melt Shop and Casting Team to achieve World Class Quality, Yields, and Costs.
- Supporting new product development efforts and coordinating trials with other departments.
- Supporting customer technical service including direct technical contact with OEM customers.
- Developing technical training for our teammates.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent engineering degree
- Minimum of 5 years of Melt Shop or Continuous Casting metallurgy experience
