Melt Shop Lab Technician

Basic Job Functions:

The Melt Shop Lab Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the Melt Shop analytical equipment. This includes daily maintenance and troubleshooting of the spectrometers, nitrogen analyzers, carbon/sulfur analyzers, and slag analyzers.  The melt shop lab technician should also perform measurement systems analysis on lab equipment to ensure that it is running optimally. The successful candidate may also be asked with the operation and maintenance of the SEM and macroetch labs as necessary. This position is scheduled for Monday-Friday day shift, however working unscheduled shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.  Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or equivalent of 3 years’ experience in a technical-related industrial environment or scientific lab.
• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Prior experience operating and/or maintaining analytical equipment.
•    Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Physics or Math.
