Level 1 Automation Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel-Hertford County is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Level 1 Automation Engineer. The successful candidate will work closely with operations and maintenance teams to develop and modify PLC code, HMI and SCADA systems, implement industrial networks, and create and modify associated technical and safety documentation. This role is integral to the safety, quality, and productivity of our process and requires complex project management and interpersonal communication skills.  Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming experience
• Automation project experience, including budgeting and coordination with vendors and/or contractor
• Strong computer skills

Preferred Qualifications:

•    4 or more years of heavy industrial automation experience
•    2 or 4 year engineering or technical degree
•    Programming experience in non-PLC languages
•    Relevant network certifications
