Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Hertford County is seeking a Human Resources Manager to serve as a key member of the Division Leadership Team. This individual will partner closely with plant leadership to support the business while reinforcing Nucor’s culture and values. This role is responsible for leading the full scope of Human Resources functions while also contributing as a leader across the division. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations while balancing teammate support with consistent policy application. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and reinforce a culture of open communication, trust, and accountability
  • Provide counsel and guidance to leadership on employee relations, performance management and policy application
  • Oversee HR functions including:
  • Recruiting and staffing
  • Employee relations and investigations
  • Benefits and compliance administration
  • Performance management processes
  • Support leadership in developing teammates, talent pipelines, and succession plans
  • Partner with leadership team to align HR strategies with business objectives
  • Drive effective communication and teammate engagement across the plant
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in HR processes and organizational effectiveness
  • Contribute as a leader within the Administrative Team, supporting broader business initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the Unites States without company sponsorship
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources or related experience
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
  • Due to company policy and confidentiality requirements, applicants may not have any relatives employed at Nucor- Hertford County.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience
  • Experience supporting talent development, recruiting strategies, and succession planning
  • Familiarity with employment law and HR systems
  • HR certifications (SHRM, HRCI) preferred but not required
