Basic Job Functions:
BASIC FUNCTIONS: Nucor Steel Hertford County is seeking a leader for the position of Accounting Manager. This role is a key member of the division leadership team and is responsible for leading the accounting function to excellence. This position goes beyond execution and transactional oversight. The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely delivery of accounting processes, while also developing teammates, shaping culture, aligning with division priorities, and serving as a business partner across the organization.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead, develop, and grow the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
- Coordinate and ensure execution of all accounting processes, including general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, inventory, and period-end close/reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and audit requirements
- Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Partner with department leaders to provide financial insights, support decision-making, and drive division performance
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and continuous improvement initiatives across the division
- Lead implementation, communication, and interpretation of accounting and financial policies and procedures
- Provide analytical support to improve cost, efficiency, and overall business performance

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting or finance-related experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate work, drive accountability, and deliver results
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA, CMA, or MBA
- Manufacturing or cost accounting experience
- Experience leading and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
