Basic Job Functions:

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for the overall development and leadership of the QA Team to include Safety, Environmental Compliance, Quality, and Customer Satisfaction. The QA team consists of Lab Technicians and Quality Engineers for our locations in Marseilles, IL  and Ghent, KY. The QA supervisor will be responsible for driving process improvement, product trials, and monitoring KPIs including scrap, rework, yield, and customer complaints. The QA Supervisor is responsible for being visible at each site, motivating the team, defining expectations, and making sure that the expectations are met. The QA Supervisor will facilitate collaboration with the operations and commercial teams to ensure the best interests of Nucor Tubular Products are being met. The QA Supervisor will also participate in long-term strategic planning for the department and the enterprise

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

 

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Leadership or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO 9001 preferred)
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis and management of a QMS System
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Must be willing to actively participate in meetings and activities before, during and after regularly scheduled work hours
  • Regular travel between sites with occasional over-night travel required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internal auditor or higher certification
  • Experience in steel tube and pipe manufacturing
  • Experience with metallurgical analysis and laboratory testing methods
  • Ability to review RFQ’s and customer product drawings
  • Lean Six Sigma
