Basic Job Functions:

 

The Data Steward plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of enterprise data. This role supports the implementation of data governance practices, collaborates with data owners and technical teams, and helps maintain high standards of data quality and metadata management. The Data Steward will be embedded within the Data Governance team and will work closely with both corporate and division stakeholders to operationalize data governance use cases.

 

The position will be required to perform maintenance and remediation of data environments outside of normal work hours when necessary.

 

This is a full-time, permanent position with the Nucor Business Technology Team.  

 

A willingness to travel periodically and domestically is required to satisfy project or training demands.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the onboarding and operationalization of data governance use cases.
  • Collaborate with Corporate & Division Data Stewards and Owners to implement governance frameworks.
  • Participate in Data Governance Council meetings and working groups to provide updates and insights.
  • Act as a liaison between business units and the Data Governance team.
  • Provide guidance and training to data users on governance policies and best practices.
  • Communicate data governance policies and issues clearly to stakeholders.
  • Monitor and assess data quality across systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Define and implement data validation rules and standards.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues in collaboration with business and technical teams.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • 2+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or data quality principles.
  • 2+ years with data governance platforms (e.g., Informatica, Collibra)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Immigration or work via sponsorship will not be provided for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience working in an environment with corporate and division-level stakeholders.
  • Certification in data management is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.  An equivalent combination of experience and education will also be considered.
