Basic Job Functions:

The Wire Maintenance Tech responsibilities includes maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and modifications to all production and material handling equipment at Nucor Cold Finish Utah (Wire Products). Including but not limited to Wire Drawing equipment, Wire Mesh fabrication equipment and overhead cranes. Successful candidates must be willing to learn new skills and crafts, which may include electrical, plumbing, welding and fabrication, and building maintenance. Candidate must be willing to learn to troubleshoot and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

 

The Wire Maintenance Tech will be required to be trained to safely operate fork trucks, overhead cranes, and man lifts. This position will also require working in confined spaces, heights and be willing to travel for training and further education. 

 

The qualified candidate must be willing to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts and scheduled and unscheduled overtime on short notice and submit to drug testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Supervisor and manager recommendation (Internal Candidates ONLY) and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. 
•    2 Years of maintenance experience 
•    Knowledge of basic electrical theory.  This includes troubleshooting and installing electric motors, understanding basic electrical circuits and devices.  

Detailed Selection Criteria:

•    Strong commitment to Safety in all job aspects including working knowledge of confined space, LOTO, and Fall Protection. 
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
•    Self-starter with a strong ability to analyze and think strategically in order to solve problems and make improvements, and who can work in a fast-paced environment.
•    Team player with leadership skills that is dedicated to taking care of our customers. 

Preferred Qualifications:

•    Licensed Electrician or Industrial Electrical Experience
•    Multi-craft experience – Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Mechanical, Welding/Fabrication, etc.
•    Technical degree or certifications that support this role.
•    Experience and understanding of automation.
•    Experience working in a production environment.
