Basic Job Functions:

The Maintenance Automation Controls Tech reports to the Maintenance Supervisor while carrying out the duties and responsibilities required of the position. Primary responsibilities include working within the Maintenance department and across multiple groups to install network connections to equipment and improve plant operation through increased network security and maintain compliance with all plant safety and Environmental practices and procedures.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to trouble shoot and write ladder logic code using Rockwell 500/5000 software profiles
  • Needs to be able to safely connect and make live changes as well as offline changes in programs
  • Ability to program and run Rockwell FTV ME/SE application software for HMIs
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and understand electrical diagrams
  • Willing to take classes for motion or other related controls
  • Works well in a team environment on projects and upgrades bringing suggestions to the table
  • Self-driven with the desire to continually grow
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and automation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Willing to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment and respond to equipment breakdowns to support production and plant automation needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of/or working toward Controls Engineering Technology degree
  • Previous Maintenance experience or Programming experience in an industrial setting
  • Experienced writing organized sequential program code, making proper use of AOIs, UDTs, etc.
  • Familiar with code/data used with encoders and other related motion position components
  • Ability to Configure IP, Subnet, Default gateway and DNS Server Set ups
  • Basic understanding of Industrial Internet of Things applications and familiarity with various network connection types
