Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Brandenburg is seeking a highly motivated Intern/Co-op to join our team for the spring/summer. This role supports the development of high-quality steel products through data analysis, quality assurance, and cross-functional collaboration. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze mechanical testing and chemical composition data
- Verify material compliance with customer/major society specifications
- Assist in metallographic preparation and analysis
- Organize and maintain technical documentation
- Support problem-solving efforts throughout steel production processes
- Communicate effectively with teams across the mill
- Uphold and promote Nucor's safety standards and practices

Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a 4-year undergraduate or non-thesis graduate program

- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
- Interest in metallurgy and materials science
- Experience with computer science, coding languages, SPC, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Metallography and laboratory experience
