Safety Director

Basic Job Functions:

Experience with Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Health and Environmental regulations and standards. Provide leadership and leading team support to the Safety & Health functions across the Division and Safety Region. Growing long term, sustainable relationships with division Leadership, Teammates, Contractors, and Safety & Health Personnel to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance, and safety systems. Risk Analyst, development of risk assessment and risk management strategies and applying risk-based thinking. Develop, communicate and implement strategies and plans to support Nucor’s Challenge of “Becoming the World’s Safest Steel Company”. Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials. Inspect or evaluate workplace environments, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations. Interpret and practically apply regulatory and consensus standards (OSHA, NFPA, NRC, etc.) Industrial Hygiene, Behavior-Based Safety and Worker’s Compensation experience. Provide accessible and engaging expert safety and health advice and support to all operations and teams. Build and facilitate effective Safety & Health processes and training that drives hazard recognition and prevention. Safety training experience and certification (ie. 30-hour, fall protection, LOTOTO, first aid, defensive driving, or TBOSIET etc.). Implementation, maintenance and improvement of management systems and management system software. Process development and lean management. Incorporation of AGILE and SCRUM. Manage multiple priorities and deadlines. First Responder / EMT certification or willingness to obtain. 10% of domestic travel required.
