Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Brandenburg is seeking qualified applications for the posting of Product Development Metallurgist. Principal duties include, but are not limited to:


1. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

2. Leading research and development of plate and coil steel.

3. Leading/coordinating trials interfacing with operation, technical, and commercial teams.

4. Leading/coordinating qualification/order efforts of new and existing products with NSBB, Nucor Plate Group, other Nucor divisions, as well as 3rd party laboratories.

5. Supporting customer technical service including direct contact with customers and order dressing.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent technical/engineering related steel production experience

• 5 years of related engineering experience in steel, coil, and/or pipe

Preferred Qualifications:

· Proven track record of problem solving and process improvement

· Experience with TMR, AcC, and DQAcC practices and/or cross rolling.

· Experience with API pipe grades and/or EN specifications

· Experience with API plate/coil/pipe production
