Basic Job Functions:
Responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator may include but are not limited to:
The Safety Coordinator works closely with teammates, contractors and leadership to drive continuous improvement in safety culture, performance and safety systems. The Safety Coordinator interprets regulatory and consensus standards (OSHA, NFPA, NRC, etc.), develops and updates policies and procedures. The Safety Coordinator assists with incident investigations, safety audits, develop action plans and follow up, conduct safety training and participate in emergency response teams. This position requires willingness to spend time on the floor to obtain an understanding of operations for their
area. This position requires working scheduled and unscheduled overtime, some overnight travel,
and the ability to promptly respond to safety needs.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• First Responder/EMT certification or willingness to obtain
• Industrial Hygiene and Behavior-Based Safety experience
• Safety training experience and certification (30-hour, fall protection, LOTO, etc.)
• OSHA Voluntary Protection Program experience
