Basic Job Functions:
The Physical Lab Technician will develop the necessary knowledge and skillset to run the Roll Mill 1 lab. The Physical Lab Technician is responsible for ensuring the products being produced conform to all applicable requirements, including but not limited to dimensional, surface, and mechanical property requirements. The Physical Lab Technician will also be responsible for helping production maintain proper bar requirements by gathering and measuring samples throughout the shift, including assisting Shipping in sample collection, as necessary. The Physical Lab Technician will be familiar and assist Roll Mill 2 lab, as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to have basic Microsoft and in-house software familiarity, as well as take personal responsibility for the accurate entry of all data relevant to testing software and mill product check records. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
•2 years previous experience with quality inspection
Preferred Qualifications:
• 6 months previous experience in a steelmaking/heavy industrial environment
