Basic Job Functions:
The Tensile Tech must have a strong understanding of tensile testing procedures and the ability to perform mechanical testing in accordance with ASTM A370 and related specifications. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, quality-focused, and capable of producing accurate, reliable test results with minimal supervision. The Tensile Tech is responsible for ensuring proper sample preparation, test execution, data validation, and documentation to support metallurgical evaluations and customer certification requirements. The Tensile Tech will navigate through the QMS system, QMOS, and Bluehill tensile testing software in order to manage test setup, execute and monitor tensile tests, validate results, and maintain accurate records for reporting and certification purposes. The Tensile Tech will support team operations by maintaining equipment, mentoring less experienced teammates, and ensuring that all work is performed efficiently and according to standards. Communication with leads, metallurgists, and other departments is essential for aligning priorities and supporting production needs. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
6 months of experience with equipment setup, sample harvesting, and sample preparation of structural steel products per ASTM requirements.
6 months of experience operating Lab equipment to include large and small band saws, cut-off saws, CNC milling machines, hand grinders, oxy-fuel and plasma cutting torches.
6 months of experience with Tensile testing of structural steel products per ASTM sampling and testing requirements to include equipment setup, sample harvesting, sample preparation, and sample testing.

One year of experience with Tensile testing
One year of experience as a Quality Saw Operator
