Basic Job Functions:
Nucor-Yamato Steel is seeking applicants for Shipping Day Supervisor. The successful candidate will be expected to support the short- and long-term goals of Nucor, NYS, and the Shipping department, communicate effectively with all departments, develop the team to take care of our customers in all aspects including Quality, Productivity, and Costs and demonstrate leadership at all times towards the NYS initiatives of providing an Injury Free Workplace, Team Development and improving Bottom Line Results. Working weekends, holidays, overtime, and supporting company activities on days off may be expected. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
Excellent safety history to include a demonstrated commitment to continual improvement of safety
One-year effective leadership experience
Demonstrated understanding of rail, truck and barge loading, large structural steel sections
5 years’ demonstrated material handling experience with emphasis on efficient product storage/handling
