NYS I Fabricator / Guide Builder

Basic Job Functions:

The Fabricator / Guide Builder will learn and function at a safe and high level in all NYS job duties and activities. This position will be required to attain and maintain a crane certification within one year of the start date. This Fabricator must have basic computer skills in order to perform data entry, work in extreme weather conditions, occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed and must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. The Fabricator will weld MIG and Flux Core and as well weld various types of metal such as castings and alloy steels.  This position will use blueprints with both metric and standard units & weld symbols to fabricate the necessary part or rolling mill guide. The fabricator will use measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers and tape measurers to verify his/her work.  He/she will maintain and operate Oxygen/Acetylene torches and a track torch.  Lay out and cut metal plates by hand and learn and operate CNC plasma table maintenance and operation.  This position will safely operate a fork truck on a daily basis.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

Proven ability of vertical and horizontal welding of carbon steels. 

Must be able to weld: A vertical weld using stick, one horizontal weld using stick, one vertical weld using mig., and one horizontal weld using mig.

Preferences:

A minimum 5-7 years’ previous fabrication experience to include Stick and MIG welding.

The ability to weld aluminum with TIG and Stick.

Operating various equipment such as a telescoping lift, man lift and other types of specialty equipment.
