Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Metallurgist. Principal duties of the successful candidate will include:
- Participating in safety and housekeeping efforts
- Lead process optimization activities, both quality and cost
- Provide technical support and training for all operational activities
- Utilizing statistical process control tools to direct continuous improvement activities
- Working closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure continuous improvement.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of science in engineering from an accredited university
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in materials or metallurgical engineering
- Experience with customer order inquiries, technical specifications and complaint resolution
- 3 yrs. experience in steel making, emphasis on cold rolling/annealing
- Experience with automotive customers/applications
