Melt Shop Raw Materials Lead

Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Raw Materials Lead Person.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the leading the safe operation of the scrap yard, alloy handling, and material handling. They will also be responsible for effectively maintaining raw materials and alloy inventory, managing costs, and overseeing daily operations of the scrap offloading and slag handling contractors.  

'Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in scrap yard operations at an EAF facility
• Knowledge of scrap mix requirements for an electric arc furnace
• Knowledge of inventory control and scrap procurement

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in operations and/or maintenance of Material Handling systems
• Scheduling experience in a batch process manufacturing environment
• Understanding of barge and rail transportation of scrap and alloys
