Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Arkansas is seeking a leader in the position of Maintenance & Engineering Manager. This Department Manager level position reports directly to the General Manager. Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cultural leadership and values stewardship — Lead by example in embedding Nucor’s cultural values across the division, with safety as the foundation, fostering strong teamwork, ownership, and innovation through visible leadership, high standards, and consistent follow-through.
- Strategic and operational leadership — Oversee all maintenance activities across a large steel manufacturing operation; act as a major contributor to shaping and implementing the strategic direction for both the division and the broader product group.
- Performance and financial oversight — Lead maintenance and engineering performance metrics, manage costs, and handle the Capital Expenditure Authorization (CEA) process for projects, with a strong focus on return on capital, asset reliability, and long-term cost structure.
- Analytical and strategic problem-solving — Apply deep maintenance knowledge and leadership to evaluate complex operational challenges, develop effective strategies, and implement solutions that enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Cross-functional collaboration and improvement — Function as a partner to commercial, operations, and finance teams; drive and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility to boost overall performance, reduce downtime, and foster innovation.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous steel or industrial manufacturing experience
- Minimum 5 years supervisory, management, or leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- An understanding of sheet steel systems, components and asset integrity
- Bachelor of Science or similar technical degree
