Basic Job Functions:

The role of a Locomotive Operator includes but is not limited to receiving and switching inbound trains and building outbound trains for BNSF. This also includes servicing the satellite companies and various parts of the Mill.  The Locomotive Operator will work rotating shifts and scheduled/unscheduled overtime including nights, weekends, and holidays and outside in extreme weather conditions.  The Locomotive Operator is responsible for keeping accurate records, handling multiple responsibilities with minimum supervision, performing port car and track inspections, meeting deadlines and working well with our customers.  Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. 140 hours of locomotive experience

Preferences:

  1. Prior locomotive operations experience
  2. Scanner and computer experience
  3. Track and rail experience
