Basic Job Functions:
The Shift LMF Operators are responsible for, but not limited to processing heats to ensure they meet the requirements of NYS, while supporting the goals of the Melt Shop and Nucor-Yamato Steel in Safety, Quality, Environmental, Cost, and Productivity on their shift. The LMF Operator responsibilities also include, assisting the team with the safe and accurate operations and/or maintenance of either LMF, analyzing heat chemistries to meet requirements for orders, and adjusting alloy additions accurately and cost effectively to make steel with the best possible outcome. This will require clear communication with teammates in the Melt Shop and may include contractors at times. The LMF operator will be required to operate all 3 LMF’s and the degasser to achieve full grade pay. The LMF Operator will work in extremely hot conditions, high stress situations, and alone at times while performing multiple functions simultaneously. The LMF Operator will be expected to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and cover shifts as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
6 months prior LMF operational experience
