LMF First Helper

Basic Job Functions:

The LMF First Helper is a Lead person at the LMF and is required to safely lead the team and coordinate shop flow with the rest of the Melt Shop.  The LMF team is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing heats from the EAF to be cast.  The LMF First Helper oversees and ensures that the steel chemistry, slag, superheat, and timing of the heat are within the defined parameters for the required grade. The LMF First Helper will operate the alloy systems, stir systems, and power systems for LMF 1 and 2.  The LMF First Helper is also responsible for assisting in the development of their 2nd helpers, lab techs, and ladle crane operators.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years Melt Shop experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior LMF or Degasser experience
• Prior leadership experience
