Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Arkansas [NSAR] and Nucor Yamato Steel [NYS] are seeking a motivated and relationship-focused teammate for the position of Community Relations & Communications Specialist. This role serves as a key connection between NSAR, NYS, and the communities in which we operate, helping strengthen our reputation as an employer of choice, a valued community partner, and a responsible corporate citizen. Through strategic relationship building, effective communication, and community engagement, this teammate will help tell the Nucor story while creating meaningful connections that support the division's long-term success.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and maintaining relationships with community, educational, governmental, and business leaders; coordinating division tours, community events, and outreach initiatives; supporting media and public relations activities; developing communication strategies that effectively promote NSAR and NYS and our accomplishments; and serving as a liaison between division leadership and external stakeholders. This role partners closely with Nucor's corporate communications & government affairs teams to develop strategies that support workforce development, community engagement, economic development, and strategic partnerships while ensuring alignment with Nucor's culture, values, and business objectives.

 

This position requires a high degree of personal responsibility, initiative, organization, and professionalism. The successful candidate will work closely with the General Manager, Controller, and division leadership team to identify opportunities that strengthen Nucor’s presence and impact throughout the region. This position requires moderate local and offsite work as needed. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to develop long-term partnerships and initiatives that positively impact NSAR, NYS, our teammates, and the communities we serve while helping shape how Nucor is represented across Northeast Arkansas.

 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in areas such as recruiting, community relations, employee events, public affairs, marketing, communications, government relations, workforce development, or a related function.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to attend community events, meetings, and other functions outside of normal business hours, with occasional travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or related discipline
  • Training in public/community relations, media, marketing, public speaking or related field
